A Utah high school student’s Chinese prom dress sparked an online debate about cultural appropriation.
Keziah Daum,18, said she meant no harm and was in search of a modest dress to wear to prom.
“This isn’t cultural appropriation,” she said. “This is cultural appreciation.”
Daum’s dress choice received a lot of negative attention worldwide after someone retweeted he post writing, “My culture is not your (expletive) prom dress.”
So far, its received nearly 42,000 retweets, 180,000 likes and the comments keep coming.
