SANTA ROSA (KRON) — A teen is in the hospital after a 2-alarm fire broke out in a house in northwest Santa Rosa Wednesday night.
Just before midnight, the Santa Rosa Fire Department was called about a fire in the 1300 block of Cadence Way. When they got tot eh house, fire fighters found the garage of a single house fully engulfed in fire.
A truck parked in the driveway was also on fire.
Seeing the fire extending into the attic and living area of the house, as well as threatening a neighboring house, officials called a second alarm. With the extra manpower, firefighters were able to prevent the fire from moving into the living area of the house. The adjacent house wasn’t damaged either.
The fire destroyed the garage and all of its contents. The truck and two 3-wheeled motorcycles were also destroyed.
Nothing inside the house was burned, but the interior of the house as well as some belongings did sustain smoke damage.
A 19-year-old man was hurt while trying to escape. He was taken to the hospital to be treated for a third-degree burn to his back and shoulder.
Two other people were in the house at the time of the fire. They were able to escape without injuries.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but officials say it appears to be accidental.
