ALAMEDA (KRON) — Neighbors are on high alert after another home break-in in Alameda County.
This time, a teenage girl was assaulted. KRON 4’s Alecia Reid was in the East Bay where police are stepping up patrols to deal with a rash of home break-ins.
There have been about six burglaries in a two-month period in a neighborhood that is normally quiet. Authorities believe the same man may be responsible for them all.
In the latest incident, a teenager was fast asleep Sunday night when police said an intruder cut the screen from her open bedroom window and made his way inside–where he assaulted her.
Most of the burglaries have taken place on the west side of town, police said. A home on Linden was also hit, and also the manager’s apartment on the first floor of the Roadway Inn on Webster Street, where he and his family were sleeping.
Surveillance cameras from the inn caught pictures of a man. Police said his description matches the suspect in the other burglaries. He is described as dark-skinned, 18 years or older, 150 pounds, with a haircut that is curly on top and short on the sides.
Another reason this may be the same individual–the method of entry is the same. The Alameda police department has increased patrol at night, as they investigate and try to find the person responsible for about a half-dozen break-ins.
