MASSACHUSETTS (WWLP) – A Massachusetts police dog is OK after he was allegedly hit and kicked by a 15-year-old girl Saturday night.
According to the Chicopee Police Facebook page, police dog Kane was helping police take two runaways from the Massachusetts Department of Youth Services into custody.
Chicopee Police Officer Mike Wilk said the officers called out to the teenagers, asking them to come out. He said when officers were approximately five feet away from one of them, she charged at Kane and hit him.
Police said Kane held the girl by her arm and brought her to the ground. Wilk said Kane had to readjust and hold her down in her abdomen area after she allegedly continued to strike him. Police said the girl went to the hospital for her injuries and is being charged with mistreating a police dog and two counts of assault and battery on a police officer.
