EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) – The family of an Eden Prairie teen says the girl died during a routine procedure to extract her wisdom teeth.

Sydney Galleger’s family announced her death on her CaringBridge web page Monday evening. The 17-year-old Eden Prairie High School student went to the doctor last Tuesday to have her wisdom teeth removed. Her mother, Diane Galleger, says her daughter’s blood pressure shot up, her pulse dropped and she went into cardiac arrest. She was rushed to Children’s Hospital where she later died.

The Star Tribune (http://strib.mn/1FZsKve ) reports her family says Sydney chose to be an organ donor when she got her driver’s license. The funeral for Sydney Galleger will be Saturday at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Eden Prairie.
