Teen dad charged with murder in death of son, 7 months

PONTIAC, Mich. (AP) – An 18-year-old Detroit-area man is jailed without bond, accused of killing his 7-month-old son with blows to the head.

Damon Honer of Pontiac was arraigned Tuesday on first-degree murder and child abuse charges. Pontiac District Judge Michael Martinez ordered him held without bond until a March 10 court hearing.

The Oakland County medical examiner’s office says that Adien Logan died of brain trauma.

Sheriff’s deputies went to Royal Oak’s Beaumont Hospital to investigate an abuse report about Adien. The Oakland Press says that the baby died Saturday and his organs were taken for donation Monday.

Honer has been in jail since the weekend on a retail fraud charge. The sheriff’s department says he doesn’t yet have a lawyer.

WXYZ-TV reports Adien’s 16-year-old mother was sleeping when her son was injured.
