OREGON CITY, Ore. (KOIN) – The man accused of hiring a woman for sex – and then telling investigators that she burglarized his family’s residence – has been formally charged in Clackamas County.

Ethan Kwon, 18, is scheduled to appear in Clackamas County Court on Wednesday.

Investigators say that in late April, Kwon reported a “home-invasion burglary” in the area of SE Mia Garden Dr. and SE 152nd Ave. in Happy Valley.

Kwon’s mother reported she came home and discovered that there was money missing from a nightstand located in an upstairs bedroom. Kwon was home and he claimed he didn’t remember anything suspicious happening.

The homeowner reviewed her home security system and discovered an unknown woman entered the house through an unlocked front door.

The woman casually entered the home and stole over $200 in a period of about eight minutes, according to deputies.

Kwon claimed that he was in his bedroom listening to music through headphones at the time of the burglary and was unaware there was a stranger inside the home.

Detectives later learned that Kwon had invited the woman into the home.

Kwon is charged with initiating a false report and patronizing a prostitute.

He is due in court Wednesday at 3 p.m. for arraignment.
