SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Yahoo’s new strange messaging mobile app called Livetext is generating quite a bit of buzz. Will it be the next big social media platform ? Or a huge flop? KRON 4 Tech Reporter Gabe Slate takes a look.
In a nutshell, the app offers users silent video texting. You start a live video stream between you and your texting buddy and then you text away. It is kind of a mashup of live video streaming and texting.
You exchange texts as with any ordinary texting service. Only you can also see the other person’s instant reactions to the ongoing text conversation. You just can’t hear each other, making it silent video texting.
Emojies play a big part in this messaging experience as well.
