MENLO PARK (KRON) — Facebook has unveiled a new mobile app called Moments.
The stand-alone app offers a unique feature for Facebook users. The new app scans pictures for faces and matches them to Facebook friends. Users can then privately share the phones with the people in the pictures.
The app groups a bundle of pictures by occasion, something the app considers an event.
In a way, Moments offers Facebook users a way to privately share or receive pictures that have not been posted on Facebook. That means that if there are pictures being stored on a friend or family member’s phone, this could offer an easy way to get them.
Representatives with Facebook say this could help after events, celebrations, trips or just hanging out.
