SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Before you sell or donate your old smartphone, hear what mobile security experts told tech reporter Gabe Slate about people not properly wiping their devices before handing it off, leaving pictures, videos, and even email log-in information accessible to the next owner.

Mobile security researchers at Avast bought used smartphones from four different cities.

Then, they ran the phones through a simple data scrubber software program that anyone can download from the internet for free.

The information they were able to extract was shocking.
