OAKLAND (KRON) — This week’s Teacher of the Week is a high school English teacher Elina Mosquerra, who teaches at Oakland’s Dewey Academy and serves as chairwoman of the school’s English Department.
Mosquerra is known for spending countless hours planning lessons for her students, but her principal says she also goes ‘beyond’ the textbooks — and brings current events into the classroom.
Her classroom is crowded even at lunchtime, when she shows culturally relevant movies and gets everyone talking.
Colleagues say she always has a smile and you can feel the warmth and care when you walk into her classroom.. If you know a teacher you’d like to nominate, click here.
