STATELINE, Nev. (AP) – Fire crews at Lake Tahoe have contained a fire on a largely unoccupied tourist cruise boat on the south end of the lake.
Fire officials say one contractor working on the Tahoe Queen paddle wheeler docked at Zephyr Cove suffered smoke inhalation Tuesday morning.
Kate Warner, office manager for the Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District, told The Associated Press the man was treated and released at the scene and is doing fine.
The fire was reported shortly before 8 a.m.
Warner says the U.S. Coast Guard circled the boat with floating booms to capture any debris from the fire. She says there’s been no fuel or other leakage into the mountain lake.
The popular two-story cruiser operated by a motorized paddle wheel had its season cut short due to Tahoe’s low lake level so it hasn’t been offering rides to tourists for weeks.
