An SUV was pulled from Lake Merritt on Monday afternoon.
And on Monday, KRON4 is learning that it’s connected to two people found dead in the lake earlier this month.
Police are now revealing new details about why they are calling one of the deaths a homicide.
On Monday afternoon, a vehicle registered to 39-year-old Michael Grace was pulled from Lake Merritt. It was spotted by a sheriff’s department drone earlier in the day about 75 feet offshore and 8 feet down.
Police say Grace is the man who drowned in the lake on Mar. 15 after an altercation with his girlfriend Tayana Johnson.
Johnson’s body was also found in the lake but is believed to have been murdered.
While Grace’s car was discovered in the lake, it doesn’t clarify how he and the girlfriend got into the lake.
In fact, it raises more questions.
