PETALUMA (KRON) — Petaluma police are warning of a suspicious person with a hypodermic syringe seen in the area of a Petaluma walking path near Sonoma Mountain Elementary School, police said on Thursday.
The person has been detained, police said. He told police he discarded the syringe on a dirt path, near a bridge that crossed over a creek. Police never found it and are warning about the potential health risk.
Residents are being asked to watch for the discarded syringe and to alert police. Police plan on destroying the syringe.
