CONCORD (KRON/BCN) — Police are seeking a mail theft suspect who evaded officers in a stolen vehicle when he was pursued in Concord early Monday morning.

Concord police officers initially spotted the suspect after they were dispatched at 1:24 a.m. to a reported mail theft in the area of Olivera Road and Port Chicago Highway, Cpl. Christopher Blakely said.

The suspect, who left the scene in a Honda Civic later determined to be stolen out of Concord, was found near North Sixth Street and Baker Drive but fled during an attempted traffic stop, Blakely said.

He was pursued until officers lost sight of the vehicle and terminated the chase about a mile away near Port Chicago Highway and Panoramic Drive, Blakely said.

He was described as a Hispanic man between 18 and 25 years old who was driving a green 1999 Honda Civic with a California license plate of 6WON815.
