RICHMOND (KRON) — A man was arrested in connection with the July shooting death of a 32-year-old man in Richmond, police said.

Police responded at 9:45 p.m. on July 19 to a report of a shooting.

Officers found Richmond resident Paul King lying in the road and suffering from multiple bullet wounds to his upper body in the 200 block of Gertrude Avenue. King was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police identified 39-year-old Richmond resident Kendrick Barfield as a suspect in the killing, police said.

Barfield fled the scene of the shooting but was arrested Friday in an apartment in Richmond’s Southern District, according to police.

Barfield is in custody on $5.8 million bail, according to police.

King’s death was one of two fatal shootings that day. Earlier on July 19, at about 1:30 p.m., 42-year-old Antwan Foster was fatally shot in the area of South 12th Street and Virginia Avenue, police said.

No arrests have been made in connection with Foster’s death.Bay City News contributed to this report
