MILPITAS (BCN) — A San Jose man was arrested Thursday in Milpitas in connection with burglarizing a coin operated laundry business.

Steven Bruce Hemmingson, 36, was arrested on suspicion of burglary, possession of burglary tools and parole violation, according to police.

Officers with the Milpitas Police Department responded at 4:44 a.m. Thursday to Coin-Op Laundry at 588 North Abel St. on a report of a possible burglary in progress.

Responding officers entered the business and located a suspect, later identified as Hemmingson, crawling out of the building through a small hole in the ventilation system, police said.

Officers discovered Hemmingson is currently on parole for aggravated battery. He was taken into custody without incident.

Police said Hemmingson created a hole in the wall and ventilation system and was tampering with a coin machine to steal money.

Officers located the tools Hemmingson used to try and gain access to the change machine, according to police.
