BENICIA (KRON) — A suspect in a Benicia bar shooting that injured two people was arrested Sunday night in Vallejo, according to Benicia police.

Officers received a call on Nov. 27, at 1:30 a.m. about a gunman inside Bottom of the Fifth Bar in the 400 block of Military East in Benicia.

Police said that two men, one 45-year-old Benicia man and a 45-year-old man from Texas were both shot. Both were treated on the scene and taken to a hospital with injuries not considered to be life-threatening.

Several witnesses reported a verbal disturbance inside the bar, before the man took out a gun and opened fire. The suspect left the bar on foot, running north. After an extensive search, police could not find the shooter. However, after getting some help from the community, detectives were able to identify the suspect Daniel Lopez.

Lopez is a 33-year-old Vallejo transient, according to police.

At about 7:50 p.m., a $750,000 arrest warrant for Lopez was obtained for the attempted murder of the victims. Detectives located Lopez’s parked car in Vallejo, and found him sitting inside.

At about 10:50 p.m., with assistance from the Vallejo Police Department, Benicia P.D. conducted a high-risk vehicle stop. Lopez was then taken into custody, although the handgun still has not been found.

Lopez was transported and booked into Solano County jail for attempted homicide, assault with a firearm, and 3 counts of brandishing a firearm.

The case is still under active investigation. The Benicia Police Department asks anyone that may have witnessed this shooting or have information to call Dispatch at 707-745-3411. Witnesses can also call Solano Crime Stoppers at 707-644-7867 (STOP), and remain anonymous.
