HAYWARD (KRON) — Hayward police have arrested the man they think is responsible for at least three attempted kidnappings over the past few months.

Each of the attempted abductions involved girls between 14 and 16, all on Friday afternoons, and all three told police that a man in a white sedan tried to kidnap them.

On February 20, a 14-year-old girl told police that a man grabbed her as she was walking home from Tennyson High School on Joshua Street. The girl fought the man off and escaped.

Just two weeks later, on March 6, a 15-year-old girl was walking back from Tennyson High School on Whitman Street when she says she was forced into the back seat of a white sedan. She also managed to escape.

Exactly three weeks after than, on March 27, a 16-year-old girl walking back from Hayward High School was pushed into the backseat of a car near Walpert Street and Fletcher Lane. The girl told police that the man pulled out a gun, but that she was able to escape without injury.

Hayward police said that they plan to release more information about the arrest at a news conference Monday afternoon.
