(KRON/BCN) — San Mateo County sheriff’s officials are seeking a suspect who allegedly broke into a woman’s house and attacked her early Monday morning near Redwood City.
At 12:21 a.m., deputies responded to the 3300 block of Spring Street in unincorporated San Mateo County for a report of residential burglary, according to the sheriff’s office.
The victim had arrived home and went to the back door to let her animals out of the house. When she turned around, she noticed a man inside the home, sheriff’s officials said.
The suspect approached her and pushed her up against a wall, then grabbed the victim by her throat and applied pressure. When the victim yelled for help, a family member came to her aid. The suspect then fled the area on foot, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies searched the area but could not locate the suspect, who is described as a white or Hispanic man between the ages of 20 to 25 years old.
He has short brown hair, brown eyes, is about 5 feet 6 inches tall with a slim build, and was wearing a gray and burgundy plaid shirt, blue jeans and a burgundy baseball hat. The suspect also had numerous tattoos on both of his forearms, sheriff’s officials said.
