Sunday, May 27 is National Grape Popsicle Day.
In 1905, 11-year-old Frank Epperson left a cup filled with powdered soda, water, and a stirring stick on his San Francisco porch.
That night, low temps caused the concoction to freeze.
And that’s how a summertime staple first came to be.
Two billion popsicles are sold every year.
In 2005, Snapple tried to set a new Guinness record “World’s Largest Popsicle,” but that didn’t end too sweetly.
The 25-foot tall, 17 1/2 ton treat melted faster than expected.
Enjoy!
