KRON—A 19-year-old man known as the “sturgeon whisperer” caught and released a 650-pound sturgeon in British Columbia.

The Pig Nose is 10 feet long and 5 feet in girth.

Finding a fish close to this size is extremely rare.

Biologists knew the Pig Nose existed because of a tracking program that was started in 2000.

The sturgeon lives at the bottom of the Fraser River, which is the longest one in British Columbia.

Nick McCabe works for River Monster Adventures, a company that lets tourists fish for sturgeons.

McCabe was searching for one he could talk about for years during his first season working for them.

On his last day on the river, he was prepared to leave, then a Pig Nose sturgeon jumped right in front of him.

McCabe said it took him over two hours to catch the creature.

There has never been a photo of the creature until now.

Sturgeons can live up to 200 years old.
