(KRON) — You may love giving a hug to your family dog, but it turns out the feeling is not mutual.
A new study in Psychology Today said almost 82 percent of dogs show at least one sign of stress when being hugged.
Some of those signs include ears that are down and turning their head to avoid eye contact.
Researchers said the reaction is tied to canine evolution.
Their main defense tactic is to run away. And hugging makes them feel trapped.
Other signs of stress include submissive eye closing, licking their lips, or anxious yawning.
