(KRON) — Children are often told to eat their fruits and vegetables, and now, it might be time to start reminding yourself.
Researchers led by the Washington University School of Medicine found an enzyme in some natural foods that appears to slow aging.
The compound, found in broccoli, cucumbers, edamame and cabbage, had an anti-aging effect when added to drinking water of normal aging mice.
So far, findings are limited to mice, but the results are so promising that they are launching studies on people using a pill form of the enzyme.
The hope is that this enzyme may be able to prevent some of the chronic conditions associated with aging.
