The housing crisis is getting worse in San Mateo County.
A new study found that over a five-year period, only one new home was built for every 19 new jobs created in the county.
The report also found that 40% of the people who commute into San Mateo County make less than $50,000 per year.
And almost half of all the new jobs created in the county will pay less than $65,000 per year.
The problem is the average home price in San Mateo County is $1.6 million.
That means that the average salary needed to afford one of those homes is more than $382,000 a year.
But the housing market is also creating instant millionaires in the Bay Area.
