SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — As a result of the Great Recession, its impacts on employment and workers’ reluctance to retire, education now faces a shortage of teachers in the Bay Area and beyond.

Several years of increasing layoffs coupled with shrinking education budgets have made it difficult for school districts across the country to keep up with rising costs.

Addressing this teacher shortage issue, Eric Engdahl, the head of Teacher Education at California State University East Bay, stopped by the KRON studio Sunday morning and spoke with Marty Gonzalez.
