SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Rain is expected to return to the Bay Area this week starting on Tuesday, National Weather Service officials said.
The rain will start to develop on Tuesday morning. Amounts appear to be light at first, with a possible heavy blow on Thursday. On the heels of two days of rain, this might cause infrastructure problems.
In Pacifica, a massive sinkhole has opened up, closing access to a popular beach spot.
Thursday will see moderate to heavy cold rain and gusty southerly winds.
The weather service is expecting more than two inches of rain in the North Bay mountains and between three-quarters of an inch and 1.5 inches for the rest of the North Bay.

Coastal ranges are expected to see 2 to 4 inches of rain with over 6 inches possible in some locations. Urban areas will likely see between three-quarters of an inch and 1.75 inches.
Driving conditions will be dangerous with low visibility and water gathering on roads.
Higher elevation spots may see gusts of 35 to 45 mph, with some areas gusting to over 55 mph, weather service officials said. Urban areas will see gusts of 25 to 35 mph.
