BYRON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) – As a storm bore down on metro Grand Rapids Saturday afternoon, two trees crashed down onto a home while two kids were inside alone.

The home sits in the 4300 block of 64th Street SW near Wilson Avenue near Wyoming. Luke Warber told 24 Hour News 8 that it belongs to his parents. They were out of the state when the severe weather hit.

His two nieces, both younger than 13, were inside when two trees fell onto the house. They took shelter in the basement just moments before it happened and weren’t hurt.

Warber said neighbors called his dad to tell him of the damage.

Some people living near Warber’s childhood home had minor debris and damage in their yard.
