(KRON) The San Jose Sharks lose to the St. Louis Blues 2-1 in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Both teams scored their first goals inside of the 16th minute in the first period.

The Blues David Backes scored on a power play. Then 34 seconds Tomas Hertl tied it up with assists from Joe Pavelski and Brent Burns.

9:15 into the 2nd period Jori Lehtera of the Blues made it 2-1. The Sharks out shot the Blues 16-5 in the 2nd period and unleashed a flurry in the last several minutes of the period but couldn’t break through to tie it up.

The Sharks pulled their goalie with a little more than 2 minutes to play in the 3rd period. The Sharks again out shot the Blues in the 3rd period 8-7.

The difference was on the power play, the Sharks went 0-3, the Blues were 1-2.
