ST. HELENA (BCN) — St. Helena police have identified a vineyard worker who apparently drowned in a small reservoir Tuesday as 37-year-old Alejandro Cabrera of Napa.
The Napa County Sheriff’s Office’s dive team recovered Cabrera’s body from the reservoir at the end of Dowdell Lane in St. Helena around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, St. Helena police Chief William Imboden said.
Cabrera was last seen during an inspection of the fenced-in reservoir around 10 a.m. Tuesday. His jacket and cellphone were found on the shore of the 400 square-foot reservoir and the keys were still in the ignition of his vehicle, Imboden said.
Cabrera’s hat and a canoe he used to inspect the premises were floating in the water, the chief said.
Cabrera was reported missing around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday and the dive team began its search Wednesday.
Cabrera’s job included keeping swimmers and fishermen out of the private reservoir. There were no signs of trauma on Cabrera’s body, foul play is not suspected, and the death is considered an accidental drowning, Imboden said.
