SAN JOSE (KRON) — Tuesday afternoon, the Santa Clara County Regional Auto Theft Task Force (RATTF) found a car that had been reported stolen during a carjacking a few days ago.
A RATTF team member spotted a vehicle matching the description of the carjacked vehicle around 12:39pm in the area of Wooster Ave. There were four people in the car at that time.
The RATTF team followed the vehicle for a while to see where it was headed. They lost it briefly, but another team noticed it in the area of McKee Road and El Rancho Verde Drive, where the vehicle drove off.
However, the RATTIF teams were able to box in the vehicle at McKee Rd & El Rancho Verde Dr, and ordered the 4 occupants out of the vehicle, 2 males and 2 females.
The vehicle lacked a front plate, but the rear plate matched that of the carjacked vehicle.
The male driver was arrested for auto theft and being in procession of the stolen vehicle. It is believed that the male driver is an adult, but officials with the San Jose Police Department were not able to confirm that. A female occupant was also wanted on a $15,000 warrant. The other 2 people were questioned and released.
Investigators are following up to see if any of the parties were responsible for the actual carjacking.
