KRON—The Bay Area Air Quality District has announced a Spare the Air Alert for Monday.

This is the ninth alert in the Bay Area in 2016.

The air is predicted to be at unhealthy levels for Monday because of high temperatures and smoke coming from an Monterey County fire.

Temperatures are expected to reach up to 90 degrees in some parts of the Bay Area.

High temperatures and smoke combined with exhaust from cars will create an unhealthy ozone accumulation.

The district recommends for people to carpool, bike, walk or take public transportation.
