SAN JOSE (KRON) – Officials say a Southwest Airlines plane that took off at San Francisco airport Wednesday was diverted to San Jose after a customer was found allegedly smoking in the restroom.
According to San Jose airport officials, Southwest Flight #1250 landed safely at SJC around 4:10 p.m. after pilots declared an in-air emergency due to the smell of smoke in the cockpit.
Officials say there were indications someone was smoking in the restroom.
Once the plane landed in San Jose, the unidentified passenger was turned over to local authorities.
Right now officials say airport employees are working to accommodate the 32 remaining passengers on other planes so they can get to their destinations.
The plane was en route to Los Angeles.
