SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO (KRON)—A South San Francisco police officer is recovering Sunday night after being struck in the head with a skateboard.
KRON4’s Stanley Roberts visited Officer Robby Chon in the hospital.
Stanley took pictures with Chon’s wife, family, and his friends.
Chon’s condition is improving.
Chon was able to give Stanley a thumbs up.
The incident happened Friday afternoon on Grand Avenue.
Police say a citizen waved down the officer about a disturbance at a nearby business.
When Chon approached the suspect, the suspect sped off on his skateboard.
After a short foot chase, the suspect hit the Chon in the head with the board.
The suspect was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon.
