TOWNVILLE, SC (KRON) – A South Carolina teenager shot his father to death Wednesday and then proceeded to carry out a shooting at Townville Elementary school, injuring two students and one teacher.

The teenager is now in custody and there is no longer an active threat, according to deputies. The suspected school shooter called his grandparents, who went to the home and found the teen’s father dead, officials said.

The children and teacher were airlifted to local hospitals.

South Carolina Highway Patrol is on scene helping to clear room and secure the scene. Investigators are also checking out a second scene that may be related to the initial shooting, according to Anderson County Sheriff.

Oconee County sheriff’s office have been called in to help clear the building and secure the scene.

Deputies are seen on the roof of the school with their weapons drawn.

Highway 24 has been shutdown.

Speaking on live television, the unidentified officer said all other students at the Townville Elementary School were safe following the shooting.

Students are being bused to Oakdale Baptist Church on Hwy 24, that is where parents need to pick them up.

The school is located near the Georgia state line.
