SOLANO COUNTY (KRON) — A inmate was found dead in his cell at the Solano County Jail on Thursday morning.
Shortly after 8 a.m., correctional staff at the jail found an inmate that they thought might be dead inside his jail cell.
The inmate has been identified as 47-year-old Frank Munafo of Vallejo.
Munafo had been arrested just three days earlier for charges of elder abuse and terrorist threats.
The inmate was last seen alive around 8:07 a.m. during a scheduled head count. As 8:20 a.m., a nurse came to his cell for a scheduled heath check and saw that Munafo appeared to have hanged himself.
Medical personnel immediately started life-saving efforts, continuing until the ambulance arrived. Personnel with Medic Ambulance pronounced the subject deceased at 8:35 a.m.
Munafo was alone in his cell when he died.
His body was sent the Napa County Coroner where an autopsy was performed.
A cause of death is currently pending.
