SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) – The San Francisco Giants continue to be active on Monday as the MLB trade deadline as come to an end.
They have traded infielder Matt Duffy to the Tampa Bay Rays for left-handed pitcher Matt Moore. Other players have yet to be mentioned in the deal, but prospects are expected to be involved.
Many fans took to social media to express their frustration over the “Duffman” leaving the Giants. The popular third baseman formed an all homegrown infield, which also included Brandon Belt, Buster Posey, Joe Panik, and Brandon Crawford.
Duffy was drafted by the Giants in 2012. He won the Willie Mac Award in 2015 and was a part of the Giants’ 2014 World Series team.
Moore was an All-Star in 2013. The 27-year-old is 7-7 this year with a 4.08 ERA. He will be a part of the five-man rotation, bumping one of the current starters out.
