LAKE TAHOE (KRON) — The Sierra has been enjoying fresh snowfall on the mountains and is looking forward to more this weekend.

The storms that have been passing through are helping make for a dense snowpack needed this spring. Snowfall recorded on Wednesday at the Northstar ski resort was 12 inches.

And the resort is hoping for a few more inches with the system coming this Saturday. Last year, ski resorts in Tahoe were forced to close as early as February.

On Friday, Northstar has 96 of its 100 runs open on the mountain, and the resort said it is hoping to stay open until mid-April.KRON4’S INTERACTIVE STORMTRACKER4 RADAR
