Small earthquake strikes near Mt. Diablo

A small earthquake struck the base of Mt. Diablo early Tuesday morning.

The 2.6 magnitude quake struck just outside Danville around 3:16 a.m.


Danville was rattled by a series of seven small earthquakes on Sunday, followed by a 3.3 magnitude quake in Alamo Monday.

This morning’s seismic activity was recorded 3.1 miles away from Alamo, 3.7 miles away from Danville, and 5 miles from Walnut Creek.

Viewers say they felt it as far as San Pablo. One woman tells KRON4, “Felt it here in San Pablo at 4:11 a.m. bed jolting for about 10 seconds!”

No injuries or damage have been reported.
