SANTA CLARA (KRON) — Police are searching for a suspect who robbed and assaulted a female with a deadly weapon in Central Park in Santa Clara on Tuesday night, police said.

The victim was approached by a male, who stabbed her a number of times and stole her wallet and cell phone, police said. The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police describe the suspect as a Hispanic male, 20 to 22 years old, with medium brown hair and no accent. He is about 5 feet 6 inches tall and was last seen wearing a light-colored, hooded sweatshirt and dark colored shiny material pants.

His nose, chin and lips were thin and he might be a smoker, according to police.

At the time of the incident, he wore a light-colored or beige, beach-style hooded sweatshirt that had a heavy thread and weave pattern, possibly with a front pocket, police said.

He was also dressed in dark gray or shiny black pants, possibly ones worn to warm up for basketball, according to police.

Police have released a sketch of the suspect. The incident happened at 969 Kiely Blvd, police said.
