SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A rash of home burglaries just south of San Francisco’s City College has residents on edge.

The most recent burglary happened on Friday in the middle of the day at a house on Grafton Avenue. According to family members, one person was at home during the break-in.

The thieves were able to get away with electronics, jewelery, crash, and even credit cards.

Michael Bonavente’s family lives at the house. He thinks that the same burglars may have come back over the weekend to case the neighborhood. “They came back Saturday and Sunday. My cousins and my aunt haven’t been sleeping, they’re afraid, they literally barricaded themselves in the house. No one should feel like that,” said Bonavente.

Statistics from the San Francisco Police Department indicate that in just four weeks, from the middle of April to the middle of May, there have been 19 home burglaries and robberies in the neighborhood.

Police say that this is a trend throughout the city and are encouraging residents to protect their homes with video surveillance.
