SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A 77-year-old man was struck and killed in a crosswalk near San Francisco’s Portsmouth Square neighborhood, police said on Thursday.
The collision happened Wednesday at about 6 p.m. at Clay and Kearny streets, claiming the life of Aiyou Zhou of San Francisco, according to investigators.
Emergency crews rushed Zhou to San Francisco General Hospital, where he died of his injuries.
The driver, 59-year-old Tim Pak Wong, has been cited for a misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter violation, according to a police spokesman.
The San Francisco Planning Department has deemed Kearny Street one of the city’s high-injury corridors.
