SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Bay Area residents are in luck if they want to celebrate the Fourth at one of the most popular destinations for the holiday. Travel site Orbitz lists San Francisco among the top destinations for Independence Day.
The City by the Bay came in 7th on the the Orbitz Insider Index. Topping the list is Chicago, which the travel site says it the “unlikely leader for this year’s holiday.” Orbitz says one of the reasons Chicago leads the list is because many people are flocking to that city this weekend for the Grateful Dead reunion shows scheduled there July 3-5.
Los Angeles and New York took the second and third slots for top cities to celebrate the Fourth.
