SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) — A firefighter was injured Thursday night while battling a blaze at a church in San Francisco’s Oceanview neighborhood.

The one-alarm fire was reported at 10:11 p.m., Thursday, at a church located in the 200 block of Broad Street near Capitol Avenue, two blocks south of the Oceanview Recreation Center, said Jen Balestrieri, spokeswoman for the San Francisco Fire Department. Firefighters located flames in the front of the church and were able to bring the fire under control at 11:03 p.m., she added.

Balestrieri said the injured firefighter was transported to the hospital, but said she did not know the extent of the firefighter’s injuries. Nobody was in the church when firefighters arrived, and no other injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
