Crews are battling several grass fires burning in Byron Wednesday afternoon.
According to the East Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, there are possibly 7 fires burning near Byron Highway.
There are reports of structures threatened on the southern side of Byron. 500 acres of grass have been charred.
Officials say high winds in the area are contributing to the spread of the fires.
Video posted by Byron Bethany Irrigation District shows one of the fires burning along Byron Highway near Bruns Road.
No injuries have been reported.
Winds gusting to 30 mph at times pushed the flames through the area, which contains ranches and a wind farm.
There is no word on what caused the fires.
