DUBLIN (KRON/BCN) — Seventy Dublin homes were left without water Sunday because of two separate water main breaks, according to officials Tuesday.
The Dublin San Ramon Service District has determined that corrosion caused a water main break that happened around 3:30 p.m. near the intersection of Vomac Road and Holanda Lane, according to spokeswoman Sue Stephenson.Fasteners connecting an abandoned two-inch irrigation pipe to the 12-inch water main corroded, causing the break, Stephenson said.

Vomac Road between Holanda Lane and Millbrook Avenue was closed as utility crews tried to fix it. By about 5:15 p.m., crews were able to stop the water.
Residents, however, were left without water from about 5 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. on Monday morning, according to Stephenson.
The district estimated that about 200,000 gallons of potable water was lost during the break.
The affected portion of Vomac Road is located in front of Dublin Elementary School. The school’s water supply was not affected, however, Vomac Road sustained some damage and remained closed until about 12:30 p.m. Monday.
The road had been temporarily repaired. Final repairs are scheduled to happen next week, Stephenson said.
A second, smaller water main break was also reported Sunday in Dublin around 9 p.m. on Cypress Court.
An 8-inch pipe split along four to five feet of the length of the pipe, causing the water main break. Twenty homes were without water for more than 16 hours.
Cypress Court was closed for most of the day and final repairs are scheduled to take place next week as well.
District officials estimated that about 45,000 gallons of potable water was lost in that water main break.
