SONOMA COUNTY — Seven people were arrested late Friday night after a victim interrupted a robbery at her home in Rohnert Park, according to public safety officials.
The victim contacted dispatch at 11:44 p.m. and told them that two Hispanic men around 18 years old broke her sliding glass door and came into
her residence on Adrian Drive.
According to officers, the suspects brandished a gun before ordering the victim to get out of bed and grab her purse and valuables. Then they told her to go back in her bedroom as they continued to steal items from her home.
The victim told officers she waited for the suspects to leave before going to a neighbor’s house and contacting 9-1-1. Officers responded
and set up a perimeter.
During the investigation, the victim told investigators the suspects took multiple items including her cell phone, and an officer attempted to locate her phone using a mobile app.
During this time, dispatch advised officers that police in Cotati were responding to a similar situation on East Sierra Avenue.
Officers said two of the suspects at the Cotati address incident matched the description the victim gave officers at Adrian Drive, and
officers discovered a Chevy van with five additional suspects inside, Anissa Roman, 19, Robert Martinez, 20, Jose Bautista, 20, Esmeralda Bejar of Santa Rosa and Maria Herrera, 18, of Rohnert Park.
Officers at Adrian Drive were able to locate the victim’s phone in the area of East Sierra Ave, and quickly responded to the area to assist the Cotati police.
Officers searched the van and surrounding area and discovered several pieces of evidence that connected them to the home invasion on Adrian
Drive, as well as several items of clothing and a bag next to an open gate near Chadwick Way.
The victim from Adrian Drive was transported to East Sierra Avenue and positively identified the majority of the items in the Chevy van as her
belongings.
Suspects Alex Cardenas, 18 and Hector David Carranza-Pineda, 19, both of Santa Rosa were located hiding under the rear deck of the yard, and
were identified as the two suspects from the Adrian Drive incident.
Public safety officials said Cardenas had what appeared to be a black handgun at his side and officers quickly reacted to detain both men
without further incident.
Upon further examination, the black handgun turned out to be a BB handgun with a fake light and silencer, according to public safety officials.
All seven suspects were arrested and booked into the Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of robbery, kidnapping and conspiracy to commit a crime.
