SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Super Bowl City officially opened over the weekend and will continue to be open until the big game on Sunday.
People who work around Super Bowl City were surprised on Monday morning when they were forced to go through security checkpoints to get to their offices.
Anyone that has an office in Super Bowl City, which is in the heart of SF’s Financial District, will be required to go through a metal detector to get to work.
Officers are also checking bags at the checkpoints to ensure the safety of residents and tourists.
Safety is the number one concern for the Super Bowl events.
City-goers can expect heightened security and checkpoints for the rest of the week.
Super Bowl City opens at 11 a.m.
