A stolen car was captured on security camera crashing into a gym in La Mirada, California early Tuesday morning.
The driver of the car is now in jail on $1-million dollars bail.
Security footage shows the dramatic moments as a stolen car careens right into a gym and the employee narrowly escapes injury.
Sheriff deputies were called to Crunch Fitness around 2 a.m.
Witnesses say the driver was revving the engine of the Honda.
“After that, he puts it on drive and he slams. He lets the car go right in through the glass and he actually rolled out after it started moving and he started running out,” witness Adrian Nolasco said.
Adrian Nolasco says the suspect jumped from the moving vehicle before it crashed — then ran off.
Deputies say afterwards, he got into another car that was waiting nearby.
Authorities eventually arrested 32-year-old Sergio Reyes of Whittier and booked him on attempted murder.
The damage is pretty extensive — the entire front window was busted out with shattered glass scattered on the floor.
Employees even had to write the word “closed” on the front. The damage is estimated at about $65,000.
Officials say no one was seriously hurt.
A gym employee said the suspect was a member of the gym but they canceled his membership after receiving complaints about him. Detectives are looking into the motive.
People who showed up hoping to work out say they’ve never had a problem here before and were stunned by the incident.
It’s unclear if the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Investigators haven’t said if what happened was intentional.
