MANCHESTER, Mass. (AP) — Seagulls have long plagued the shores of Massachusetts, but lately, they’ve been particularly brazen.
A bandit gull grabbed credit and identification cards and an unknown amount of cash while foraging inside a man’s bag for food on Friday.
The Gloucester Times reports a Beverly man had set it down on a Manchester beach that evening. Unable to find a snack, the gull grabbed the next best thing — a cardholder and money clip.
Police say the victim didn’t see it land anywhere. As of Monday, the burglar and its booty remain at large.
Police Chief Edward Conley quipped of multiple seagull thefts, “I’m starting to wonder if there might be a coordinated effort.”
A month ago, another gull stole a wallet off a pizza box in Gloucester.
